God
God
God
The very idea of God’s being
Though affirmed through ages
Can confuse modern minds.
That God exists,
Can be difficult to grasp
Would be a miracle
If it were true,
Sheer foolishness
That requires abandon
To embrace.
There is no doubt,
That we have a need to create gods
To extend ourselves
And multiply our power.
It is natural, since we all die,
To entertain eternity.
But a real God,
A living God
Who actually is
Who engages with us
Who is not an extension of us,
Who has a will beyond our own,
Is hard to comprehend.
Yet, out of the unfathomable depths
Of a billion stars
Swirling in galaxies unknown,
From Somewhere or nowhere
Some sense that God comes,
Is here,
In righteousness and Love,
A holy Presence.
And for me,
It is enough
I am not alone. PBK
